The project “Access to sterile syringes at pharmacies” comes under the “Pharmacies and Harm Reduction” and aims to enhance the role of the pharmacies in sterile syringe distribution among drug users.

The Addiction and Drug Abuse (ADA) has published the findings from the first study about Injecting Drug Users (IDU) and access to Needles/ Syringes. This  qualitative assessment identified the beliefs and practices of IDUs and pharmacists about access to clean syringes. The study concluded pharmacists lack awareness about the evidence-based approach of clean distribution of needle for the prevention of harms among IDUs. The study is in collaboration with civil society organization SIDC. Results were published in Substance Use & Misuse journal Read findings
